Teen Group Classes
The Anchor Method utilizes best practices in both fitness and mental health to support teen girls ages 12-19 to be their most confident, strong and healthy selves through a combination of strength, reflection and stretching.
Each 60 minute class is divided into two parts. In the first 45 minutes, Emily guides you through a specific strength and conditioning program where you and a partner take turns rotating through a variety of exercises. As your partner lifts, you spot and encourage them. And then you switch roles. This enables you to learn the exercises faster, as well as get proper rest time between sets. Each week we rotate the focus on a specific part of the body and then perform four other exercises to get a well rounded, full body workout.
In the last 15 minutes of class we transition from the gym floor to yoga mats to stretch and journal or discuss the reflection prompt of the day. Reflection topics center around mental health, physical health and overall well-being. The purpose of this time is to challenge you to get out of your comfort zone and go deeper within. Our stretches or foam rolling exercises are based on what we did in class that day. The goal is for you to be able to continue this practice at home.
Every month The Anchor Method hosts a community event inside or outside of the studio. Some events we have done in the past are clothing swaps, bring a loved one classes, plank off challenges, bring your mom classes, hikes, etc.
In our busy world, it is essential to build strength, stillness and have an opportunity to create community.
