I have scoliosis with a Harrington rod in place and have suffered from neck pain due to cervical radiculopathy for over a decade so I was hesitant about starting strength training for fear of hurting myself further. I needed to strengthen my muscles to support my misaligned bones and prevent injury in my job as an RN. Emily really listened to what I needed and worked at the pace that I felt comfortable. Since I started with her I have gone from having pain 60-70% of the time to having pain 10% of the time. At the age of 50 Emily has helped me get to the point where I have had the confidence to take surfing lessons. While I’ve been athletic my entire life, during COVID I was prevented from performing some of my favorite activities due to shoulder surgery and a few other injuries. At the time I was seeing a physical therapist but not getting any the results I wanted and was not seeing any improvement on the injury nor further injury prevention. After a week with Emily I never went back to the physical therapist as Emily prepared for all our sessions and researched my injury for hours. She found stretches and exercises that helped tremendously and also increased my strength around the injury to prevent further issues. We were just talking the other day how we no longer have to make modifications to accommodate my body problems. She now trains my daughter and has helped her through many physical challenges and taught her gestalt about her body and how to take care of it. She has also been very motivating and encouraging!
